Everyone has a "buddy." But have you gotta buddy that can drink beer before liquor? How about a buddy that can play the fiddle with one arm? Or maybe you've gotta buddy who lost a finger wrestling a gator? Maybe. Maybe not!
I Gotta Buddy™ is a brand built on the legendary, sometimes completely made-up, stories we love to tell about our friends. Our mission? Helping you turn those fabricated talents and exaggerated characteristics into real stuff you can wear, use, or gift. No proof required!
No buddy? No problem! For every story, there's a "buddy" (even if you make one up).
The year was 2009 and the creator of I Gotta Buddy™ started a new job as an Applications Support Analyst at an office technology company in Virginia Beach, VA. He shared a cubical wall with another analyst the company hired at the same time who turned out to be a very interesting, but peculiar, guy comparatively. As if it were a purposeful habit of his, this other analyst always seemed to interject himself into water cooler conversations he was not formerly part of with tall tales of people that he supposedly knew. Whatever the subject matter, an unsolicited story about "a friend" of his was sure to emerge from behind the cubical.
These supposed companions were clearly far superior and more distinguished in their lives than you could ever be in yours. If your family owned 10 acres, his friend's family owned 100 acres. If you had front row tickets to last night's concert, his friend had backstage passes to that same show (and met the band). The dubious claims that this guy loftily made were plausible, but not very probable, and you could rest assured he was likely making them up as he went along. Everyone knew when the hogwash was coming whenever he began a statement with, "I gotta buddy..."
Regardless of any actual validity to those outlandish narratives as they were being told, the initial concept for the brand was born and the rest is history!
